About The Author
David Lee Seriff is a man with a curious intellect and snappy attitude. These qualities were honed early performing publicly as a magician at age thirteen. By his late teens David travelled the Carolinas with his magic act at shopping mall promotions, civic events and private engagements. He graduated from the Carolina School of Broadcasting in 1976 and did a stint as DJ at Charlotte radio stations. His entrepreneurial spirit soon got the best of him, and dropping out of community college, he helped build Morris Costumes Wholesale Division which became one of the largest theatrical distributors in the US. After a short-lived move to California, he returned to the Carolinas to form his own enterprise -- Unique Novelty Distributors where he created a variety of successful novelty gift items sold wholesale. After a decade he became bored and sold the business. This prompted a mid-life quest, writing two novels (yet to be published) and burning through several unsuccessful entrepreneurial ventures. He joined the corporate world in 1996 with the startup company Bellsouth Mobility DCS (later to become Cingular Wireless and AT&T). This meant David inadvertently became a member of the team that first introduced digital wireless into the US. His innate curiosity led him to become a training manager and subject matter expert on GSM wireless technology. As an astute observer of the societal impact of this fledgling technology, David began many years of research to understand the impact of digital wireless on individuals and social realities. At AT&T he wrote two books (unpublished) about the digital dilemma we face through misuse and abuse of smartphones and other digital technology. Forced to retire in 2022 due to health issues, he finished one of his written works that actively addresses the challenges we face in our use of wireless devices. You’re Got Superpowers – How to Be a Heathier and Happier Human in the Digital Revolution offers unique, informative and entertaining insight into the Mobile Broadband Revolution and its impact on our world. Meanwhile, from his mountaintop home in Virginia, David continues to write and research his next book, tentatively titled How Your Smartphone Got Its Smarts, which will explain the magic behind how our digital devices work. David is always looking forward to the next chapter in life.
